The 78s Worcester Concert reviews
NC Symphony's Gershwin Program was wonderful!!
The 78s had an evening of Gershwin, and I was there, a Gershwin fan since my college music class days. Symphony hall is a beautiful venue, made it a Saturday date night for my wife and I. I am somewhat of a Gershwin snob, so when I saw, particularly "Rhapsody in Blue" but also "An American in Paris," I loved it. Seats are comfortable and we didn't feel that cramped, with an evening of Gershwin. Conductor spoke to the audience several times to give us a sense of the piece we would be hearing. Their pianist was excellent and the orchestra was all into it, and hearing it in person was awe inspiring for me. I have 1 recording with Oscar Levant on piano always stuck in my head whenever I hear someone else play Gershwin, but I have to say that the performance was special and meaningful.
